Stephenson Halliday is proud to have provided landscape services for a mixed use commercial and residential scheme located at the southern edge of Nuneaton.
Our client, Opus Land, sought planning permission for a set of development parameters for a mixed use commercial and residential project located adjacent to the M6. The end users of the proposed residential properties were one of the key considerations when designing the development scheme. However, one of the key issues on the site was the interaction between our clients commercial development and the existing residential properties abutting the site boundary to the north. Another concern was how the proposed residences would interact with the new commercial development and how this could impact neighbours of the site.
When designing the landscape masterplan, our landscape architects aimed to minimise disruptions to the neighbouring residential properties by creating a natural boundary inclusive of a woodland edge made up of mixed planting, a variety of large trees, and meadow areas. Between the proposed commercial and residential areas, much of the existing hedgerow was retained and meadow areas were introduced to ensure the commercial site would pose minimal disruption to the proposed residential site end users. This thoughtful approach shows the project team’s commitment to creating a cohesive development that benefits all stakeholders.
